Association of Mountaineering Instructors Annual General Meeting
The AGM itself is actually only a small part of the weekend, which comprises lectures, workshops, socialising and CPD (continuing professional development) sessions. This years event was held at Plas y Brenin, the national mountain centre, in Snowdonia.
I managed to attend three of the free CPD sessions; practical GPS use; technical (at the DMM factory in Llanberis) and coaching rock movement. All of the sessions were useful and provided three extra CPD pages for my logbook.
Swapping stories, tips and gossip with peers has become an annual ritual. The evening lecture was from Andy Kirkpatrick, famed psycho mountaineer, author, raconteur and wit and was very enjoyable. Roll on the next AGM
