Harrison’s Rocks

As there was no Adventure Camp at Blackland Farm this summer we decided to organise an Adventure Day instead. So, we each packed plenty of picnic food and a group of 24 (10 adults and 14 children) set off to Harrisons Rocks for a warm, sunny day in the woods. It was extremely encouraging to see lots of new faces – and we hope to see them again soon at other organised events.

Despite the fact that the school summer break had not quite yet finished, the rocks were relatively uncluttered with climbers which meant we could have the pick of the climbs and tailor them to suit the needs of the diverse abilities within the group. Many of the group, adults and children alike, had never climbed before and it was great to see everyone giving it a go. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, whether scampering up the rocks, playing amongst the trees and in the caves or just soaking up the serenity of the woodland atmosphere. Before we knew it, it was time to transport the first minibus-full of people back to Brighton. As the old adage goes: time flies when you’re having fun! Can’t wait to do it again soon …
